How to Rock a Clean, Mean, Protein-Packed Post-Workout Smoothie

It is a common misconception that you need meat to build muscles or get big and that non-meat eater don’t get enough nutrition from their diet. If you are a vegan, you will also no doubt be constantly answering the question as to where you get your protein from. In fact there are many ways to incorporate vegan protein into your diet; whether you are a vegetarian or not, you can gain muscle by getting in muscle building amino acid and with this protein-packed post-workout smoothie which is easy to make and even greater to drink, you’ll have people admiring your lean, muscular frame.

To make a post-workout shake, there are some ingredients that must make their appearance in your smoothie to really make an impact. The first one is raw protein.

Raw protein

Raw protein is better than other types of protein in that it is far less processed and less acidic. You have to watch out for acid forming foods as these can cause inflammation. A good source of raw protein would include things like chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and raw vegan protein blends – great for using in a smoothie.


Leafy greens

Leafy green are essential as they are a good source of phytonutrients and fiber. Leafy greens have got important ingredients in them such as spirulina, milk thistle and added into your smoothie, they are fantastic when blended into a power-smoothie. These ingredients are all anti-inflammatory and they enhance energy.

 

 Almond Butter

This product is high in fat. Essential fatty acids are cancer protective. Protective fats are found in seeds and nuts. Avoid refined, processed fats such as those found in supermarket oils.


Opt for phytonutrient-rich fruits

 Most of us are aware of the negative effects of sugar. Sugar is certainly not going to promote a lean ripped body. If you need to add some sweetness to your smoothie, include some organic, phytonutrient-rich fruits such as grapes, oranges and watermelons.

Unsweetened Non-Dairy Milk is a super way to give your smoothie a creamy, rich texture, and this can be achieved with a healthy, non-dairy milk. While it is best to use unsweetened milk in your smoothie, but crave that added sweetness, you can go for a sweetened variety and then gradually move over to the unsweetened variety as soon as you can.
